Hello! My name is Melissa Lucas and I am so excited to be your teacher this year. A little bit about me... I graduated from Sonoma State University with a B.S. in Business Marketing. I worked for a few years at Cisco Systems as a program manager and decided that behind a desk was not the place for me, and decided to follow in several family members footsteps and become a teacher! I received my Masters in Education and clear multi-subject teaching credential from the University of Phoenix. I started teaching at a smaller charter school in Richmond CA, and have taught in several districts in the Bay Area since, teaching kindergarten - 4th grade with a year off to teach reading intervention. This is my 4th year at Hansen and my 13th year teaching overall and I am so excited to be back at such a wonderful school with such an amazing group of staff, parents and most importantly students! I live in Brentwood with my husband, and two children, Jackson (Jax) who is eight and Dominic (Dommy) who is 6, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, and a couple of fish. In my free time I love to read, watch movies, drink coffee, take pictures, take the kids to the park, and have recently been trying to start a business making earrings :)
